G2 Esports Third Four-Peat | Here are The Uniforms They Wore Back Then

In the early hours of April 15th, G2 Esports secured their place in the annals of LEC history by defeating Fnatic (FNC) with a 3-1 score in the finals of the 2024 LEC Spring Split playoffs. This marks G2's third four-peat in the team's history and their fourth consecutive championship win.

Game One: A Back-and-Forth Battle
The series began with BrokenBlade on G2 selecting Sion and switching to the bot lane, where he was caught and killed four times by FNC. Despite this, the economic gap between the teams remained close. Mid-game saw chaotic skirmishes in the jungle and river, with Caps' Vel'Koz falling to Jun's champion. A 2-for-3 trade in G2's favor kept the economy close, but a late-game ace by Noah on FNC's Kai'Sa, followed by securing the Elder Dragon and a Baron, gave FNC a 10k gold lead. FNC pushed up the top lane, with Oscarinin's Zac making a significant impact, and secured the first victory.

Game Two: The Tides Turn
In the second game, BrokenBlade continued his aggressive playstyle with Sion, feeding Noah two kills. Early setbacks for G2 were countered by a mid-game collapse by FNC, leading to a 0-for-3 trade in G2's favor. However, FNC's attempt to secure the Baron was thwarted by Yike, who secured a triple kill, turning the economy in G2's favor by 3k gold. A late-game fight resulted in a 1-for-4 trade for G2, extending their lead to 6k gold. G2 capitalized on this advantage, with Caps' Azir achieving a pentakill, and G2 leveled the series.

Game Three: G2's Strategic Mastery
The third game saw continued lane swapping and a back-and-forth in kills, with Mikyx's Thresh setting the pace for G2. A mid-game team fight near the bottom lane turned in G2's favor with a 1-for-4 trade, giving them a 5k gold lead. G2's clever play led to FNC being caught in a trap during the Baron fight, and G2 secured a significant advantage. Caps' Azir outmaneuvered FNC, allowing G2 to take the lead in the series.

Game Four: Relentless Aggression
The final game was defined by non-stop action from the first minute, with G2 closely tracking Noah and securing kills whenever possible. Despite FNC's efforts, G2 maintained a high kill-to-time ratio. A mid-game Baron fight saw Hans Sama on G2's Caitlyn secure a kill, leading to G2's ace and a 5k gold advantage. However, FNC retaliated with a 2-for-5 trade, setting up for the Elder Dragon. In the late game, Hans Sama's Caitlyn achieved a pentakill, and G2 pushed down the mid and bot lanes to end the series with a 3-1 victory.

G2's Legacy Continues
With this win, G2 has claimed their 14th league championship trophy and become the first team in the four major leagues to achieve three four-peats. They previously accomplished the feat in 2016-2017 and 2019-2020, with their latest streak spanning from the 2023 Summer Split through the 2024 Spring Split.

Notably, aside from G2, only Team Liquid from North America (2018-2019) and GEN战队 (GEN.G) from the LCK have achieved four-peats in their respective leagues.

G2 will represent the LEC as the first seed at the 2024 Chengdu MSI Main Event, while FNC, as the second seed, will begin their journey in the Play-In stage.
